Faith-building Other Worlds

Hey Reader!

Did you know I have a store? On the store, I sell my books directly as well as sell many cool resources to help make the Trunk of Scrolls experience a delightfully interactive one.

What will you find there?

Do you ever put a note or a piece of paper into a book while you are reading it? Sometimes, books are made with letters and pull-out items that add to the excitement. That was my vision for this edition of Trunk of Scrolls.

So, I have a plethora of story-related resources to create an INTERACTIVE READING EXPERIENCE. Pull outs and puzzles and interactive games.

But I’m not giving you the link…yet! You might get it for FREE. Read on!

🤷‍♀️ Being Blind 😎

In last week’s Haart tto Haart, I mentioned going blind for 2 hours (see last week’s email if you missed it). With the publication of my second book, I can say that indie publishing has a lot of blind spots.

One place I’m blind is how many of my newsletter readers have bought the book. (I mean, do YOU have your copy? 🤷‍♀️)

I’m also blind as to how many people have shelved Trunk of Scrolls into their Kindle Unlimited account. (If you’re a KU reader, is it in YOUR library? 🤷‍♀️)

And thirdly, I’m blind wondering why it’s NOT being reviewed. (Have YOU reviewed it? If not, why not? 🤷‍♀️)

The first edition had such raving reviews.

I know the story is precious, and I know the ending is so powerful that it will resonate. I can see a graph on my publishing platform that shows that it’s being read… But waiting for people to finish the book has me wondering is it just LONG, or don’t you LIKE IT? Maybe you’re waiting for the audiobook…

As a final faith-building moment, I came across a quote the other day that was very meaningful to me. I pray it strengthens you!

However feeble our faith may be, if it be real faith in Christ, we shall reach heaven at last, but we shall not honour our Master much on our pilgrimage, neither shall we abound in joy and peace.

If then you would live to Christ’s glory, and be happy in his service, seek to be filled with the spirit of adoption more and more completely, till perfect love shall cast out fear. (Charles Spurgeon)

Blessings,

Sound of Sirens

Sound of Sirens

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Sound of the Sirens Yesterday our family went on an Odyssey cruise. As you most likely know, I live in Izmir Turkey, and we live about 30 minutes away from the islands that gave both Odysseus and St. Paul all sorts of trouble. We cruised on a large tour boat, sailing around from sea cove to sea cove, where we dove in and swam in the Aegean sea. Sigh. So refreshing here mid-summer! One of our stops were the Siren Rocks….

Is it time to Quit?

Is it time to Quit?

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories When to Quit. Vera Morales (from the Return to Me book 2) reminds me that it’s easy to give up. Even when we have a great vision for what we want for our lives, sometimes we reach the tipping point where throwing in the towel seems so much more preferable. But in Vera’s Story, though she’s an optimist, life situations just gets to be too much for her. Some countries encourage suicide in hopeless situations. There’s a case…

Faith and Dogs: A Divine Connection

Faith and Dogs: A Divine Connection

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hey there Reader– I use and heartily recommend the M’Cheyne Bible reading plan. This morning I read a life-changing passage in Mark 7:23-30. Phoenicians, Dogs, & the Character of God The story takes place in Tyre. Jesus is brought into a house secretly to give him a bit of a pause amidst all the crowds. But the word is spread, and a young mother discovers that he has come. She rushes in and falls at his feet. The woman…
