Hey Reader,

Trunk of Scrolls is
STILL going strong!!

Thank you for helping Trunk of Scrolls to reach its heights!

Newbery Awards…

When you signed up for this newsletter, you most likely rececived an email from me about “the thrill of a Scholastic Book Fair.”

It’s one of the first things I talk about with new subscribers.

When I was a kid, I loved the feeling of the book fair, seeing all the new possibilities of books and unknown worlds to discover.

I am hoping that this newsletter will create such a feeling for you–the excitement and anticipation, the feeling of getting a new book in your hand that belongs to you alone...

One of the purchases I made all those years ago at the Scholastic Book Fair was a set of five Newbery Award winners.

At the Book Fairs, I always loved looking at the Newbery Award winners. And when I became a writer, I had this impossible dream to write a classic Newbery Award winning novel.

Today I saw this.

On here, we have The Bronze Bow and the Golden Goblet, two of my favorite Newbery Award winners, and Mara of the Nile. And lo and behold! There’s Trunk of Scrolls, rubbing shoulders with the greats. Sigh. They grow up so fast!

We’re in the third week of being a hot new release! WOOT!

There is one problem with the news….watch this…

…about an infamous MEME.

PPsst… If you HAVE written a review for Trunk of Scrolls, would you contact me? I have something I want to give you. CLICK HERE

Do you have your copy yet? The ebook is great. It’s free on KU–it has the story, plus all images. But the illustrated paperback is the thing that will make your heart leap for joy…

Right now, the paperback is at its LOWEST PRICE EVER. , It’s on Amazon for $18.99 right now! (retail price, $24.99)

I wanted to make it accessible, so I lowered the price. But I can’t keep it low like this for long. So please get your copy of the beautifully illustrated epic adventure story of Marcellus, Byziana, and their friends in ancient Byzantium.

See you next week!

Take care!

Darlene

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hello to March! And hello to you Reader! I have a special treat for you today–a short autobiographical story I wrote about a life-changing experience I had as a little girl in Japan. It’s a bit sensitive, showing parts of my character I sure can’t shake. But it was quite formative. If I hadn’t survived, you wouldn’t be getting this email today. 📚 The End ✏️

📚 The End ✏️

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hi again Reader! I’m not sure why, but I have trouble using the word “The End” at the end of a story. First of all, it should be clear that the story is over, right? The last lines of a book should already reflect an ending without those two words. But when I write a story, the character and I form a bond. Maybe the reason I have trouble ending a book with “The End” is that for me neither they nor their story is truly…

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Greetings Reader! We’ve been in the midst of a torrent of rain here in Izmir–great for the olive trees, apricot trees, and grapevines, but terrible for the dogs. This is the second greatest rainfall in 88 years of recorded measurement. I calculated the other day to learn that there has been a total of about 1.5 Olympic-sized swimming pools full of water dumped on our farm since the beginning of the year. Wet and rainy,…
