Faith-building Other Worlds

MY FROZEN SEAT

It’s been funny to listen to the Trunk of Scrolls: Paths of Faith and Fire audiobook while sitting in my eternal recliner with my healing ankle raised.

In the story, Byziana and Marcellus struggle with seemingly lifelong suffering all the while growing and learning to live a life faithful to God.

What’s comic is that while I’m listening to Byziana ask “why” the earthquake happened (and all that destroyed her life), I’m likewise asking “why” it was on God’s eternal agenda for me to break my ankle. 🧦

We ask why.

Because God is all-wise and his plans are impeccably beautiful.

One quote about this:

We are human. We will ask questions of tragedy. We seek meaning in meaninglessness. By nature we appeal, as Job did, to God. Tragedy makes us demand something of God.
We men always have reasons for our actions. So we hold God accountable for His actions. After all, earthquakes and floods and plagues were called acts of God.
He must have a reason for disaster. But how are we to know them? Why would He do this?
(Marcellus, Trunk of Scrolls: Paths of Faith and FireThe Vat of Pitch)

👉 I’m curious. What have you lived through that became a deep life lesson for you?

AMAZING NEWS

I’ve been home a week today. Can’t tell you how wonderful it was to bring my puppies into my lap again after almost 2 months apart. 🐶🥰

Sitting in my recliner, I’ve been quite productive. It’s funny how FEW plates you can spin simultaneously when you have only one foot.

Which means I am getting projects finished!

📜 TRUNK OF SCROLLS Audiobook 🐎🐎

🎊 I just finished proofing the Trunk of Scrolls audiobook (like, just a few minutes ago!). 🎊 Sent it for finalizing to the amazing narrator Marcellus…oh, I mean, Eden Gabay, whose performance of Marcellus is par none.

Oh my goodness. He really puts life to Marcellus. You’re going to LOVE him!

It will be sold direct and on all retail outlets, including Audible, by next week, as far as I can estimate.

So…

I’m in search of a launch team!

If you are even slightly interested in helping to launch the Trunk of Scrolls audiobook, please click here:

Keep an eye out for the Book Mobile in a couple days. Some great recommendations there! Christian Women’s Fiction collection and a very much loved series for you to check out.

Take care!

Pray for me. This week I experienced a cool interconnection of real life and fiction when my husband introduced a new song to the church congregation. Kyrie Eleison. It’s so beautiful! I will record it and share it in the upcoming weeks. If you don’t know, the phrase means, Lord have mercy in Greek. The…

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Happy Easter Reader ! He is risen…indeed! Death Where is thy Sting? My hard-to-find novel, Tim Reynolds, Detective: The Death of Noah Black takes place in Portsmouth, Maine. The choice of location stems from a tragedy that happened there in 1798 that impacted my life permanently. It was the loss of parents Temperance and Seth Walker. I did a bunch of research when I first heard their story–and some day I have a mind to…
