Faith-building Fantasy, Sci-fi & Speculative Stories

Hi, Reader

As promised last week, I have some exciting news for you...

The Return to Me series Kickstarter is about to go LIVE.

  • Click the button or image to read the TEASER,
  • or read on for WHAT a Kickstarter is…

What is the Kickstarter Marketplace?

For indie authors, like myself, the Kickstarter Marketplace is an alternative to Amazon marketplace.

Kickstarter enables me to sell my book

  • in BUNDLES,
  • with SPECIAL FEATURES,
  • with curated “one of a kind” bonus items and
  • much EARLIER than retail sales

in fact,

  • some of my books are ONLY available on Kickstarter!

KICKSTARTER is a small business Marketplace!

  • the campaigns are short-lived, 3-4 weeks. They usually are tied to the author needing preorder payments in order to complete the publication process. 👈

🚫 What Kickstarter is NOT:

  • 🙅‍♀️ a Go-fund-me donation campaign (like for health issues). 🤦‍♀️

In short:

  • Kickstarter is a VENUE where indie authors can be seen 👀 and heard👂! If you want to support small business, take a look on Kickstarter!

I love to look at the book (and board game) projects hosted on Kickstarter.

In fact, I’m a sucker for them and back as many projects as I can–for the reasons above.

The Kickstarter launches October 31
👻 👮(understandably!! )🧑‍🚒 🔥

✏️ PUBLISHING NEWS

Coming up…

The R2M Kickstarter is live from October 31-November 21.

During the KS, we’ll focus on the exciting and new books of mine–including bundles and audiobooks and Christmas gifts–available for you ONLY on that marketplace.

YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS.

After the Kickstarter, I’ll begin sharing exciting developments of my upcoming Sci-fi Fantasy Dystopia (SFFD) epic (4-5 book series), and if you are reading this, you’ll get in on some secrets about the story–behind the scenes, images, maps, etc.

We’ll work together on ideas for the cover–which as I said is going to be designed in January. We’ll have a live meet-up, all the fun!

About the launch date–My Last Trumpet Press publication calendar always had the R2M (Return to Me) Kickstarter launch to be Fall of 2025. In September, we had a vote for which series to be published first and the SFFD won by a smidgen (by maybe one vote). I hear you!

So in reviewing that poll, I made the executive decision to do both SIMULTANEOUSLY. This way, once the Kickstarter is over, we can give our full attention to the excitement and teasers and information about the SFFD (including finally telling you the actual TITLE for the series and book one instead of calling it by a bland genre name!! I can’t wait for that!)

Also, keeping the original schedule enables us move on after completing the R2M set–to go full-steam in the SFFD series.

So, R2M1 ➡️ R2M2 ➡️ R2M3
➡️ ➡️
SFFD1 ➡️ SFFD2 ➡️ SFFD3, etc.

The retail launches may vary, but YOUR access is always premiere!

Thanks for being here with me in this exciting adventure!

📖 Points to Ponder

Finally–I read this this week and wanted to share it with you to encourage you…

Inspirational Quote from Spurgeon:

“Spiritual knowledge of Christ will be a personal knowledge. I cannot know Jesus through another person’s acquaintance with him. No, I must know him myself; I must know him on my own account.

It will be an intelligent knowledge-I must know him, not as the visionary dreams of him, but as the Word reveals him. I must know his natures, divine and human.

I must know his offices-his attributes-his works-his shame-his glory. I must meditate upon him until I “comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge.”

It will be an affectionate knowledge of him; indeed, if I know him at all, I must love him. An ounce of heart knowledge is worth a ton of head learning.

Our knowledge of him will be a satisfying knowledge. When I know my Saviour, my mind will be full to the brim-I shall feel that I have that which my spirit panted after. “This is that bread whereof if a man eat he shall never hunger.”

At the same time it will be an exciting knowledge; the more I know of my Beloved, the more I shall want to know. The higher I climb the loftier will be the summits which invite my eager footsteps.

I shall want the more as I get the more. Like the miser’s treasure, my gold will make me covet more.

To conclude; this knowledge of Christ Jesus will be a most happy one; in fact, so elevating, that sometimes it will completely bear me up above all trials, and doubts, and sorrows; and it will, while I enjoy it, make me something more than “Man that is born of woman, who is of few days, and full of trouble”; for it will fling about me the immortality of the ever living Saviour, and gird me with the golden girdle of his eternal joy.

Come, my soul, sit at Jesus’s feet and learn of him all this day.”

(From Morning and Evening by C.H. Spurgeon)

May this meditation be a blessing to you today.

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hello to March! And hello to you Reader! I have a special treat for you today–a short autobiographical story I wrote about a life-changing experience I had as a little girl in Japan. It’s a bit sensitive, showing parts of my character I sure can’t shake. But it was quite formative. If I hadn’t survived, you wouldn’t be getting this email today. 📚 The End ✏️

📚 The End ✏️

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hi again Reader! I’m not sure why, but I have trouble using the word “The End” at the end of a story. First of all, it should be clear that the story is over, right? The last lines of a book should already reflect an ending without those two words. But when I write a story, the character and I form a bond. Maybe the reason I have trouble ending a book with “The End” is that for me neither they nor their story is truly…

🕊️ Hope and Hope Again 🕊️

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Greetings Reader! We’ve been in the midst of a torrent of rain here in Izmir–great for the olive trees, apricot trees, and grapevines, but terrible for the dogs. This is the second greatest rainfall in 88 years of recorded measurement. I calculated the other day to learn that there has been a total of about 1.5 Olympic-sized swimming pools full of water dumped on our farm since the beginning of the year. Wet and rainy,…
