As promised, we are opening up Round 2 of the Theme Song for CrossFall: The Remnant Rises.
This set is a bit different. I am trying for a little bit Hawaiian, a little bit like the Cranberries. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Remember, in the story, the mother is singing to her children in their mountain hideaway. We need a song that is basic enough that could be sung like that, but then that can be expanded upon for a cool Theme song for the audiobook.

About the song.
I wrote the lyrics of Whisper Hope (or Deep Calls to Deep) as a reflection of the dire situation JulieAnn, Lizzy, and the Bishop Family have endured. In the story, they have lived for years in hiding in the mountains of California while the world and civilization goes from bad to worse.
Their mother, Lucy Bishop, taught this song to her children as a sword in the sand. Or even as an Ebenezer Stone. We will not give up, we can survive.
As Scripture says, “Hope does not disappoint.” (Rom 5:5)
As the story starts, hope seems to disappear for the Bishops. And yet, drawing from the strength of their mother’s faith, JulieAnn and Lizzy move forward into life, applying the things they have learned growing up.
I like to have music in my audiobooks. The opportunity came last year for me to experiment with different versions of a musical version, which I jumped on.

What about you? Do you agree that hope does not disappoint? Have you ever been broken from hope disappointed?
Another verse says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” (Prov 13:12) Hope is like a little breakable, fragile treasure. What is your story about hope?
Yours,
Darlene

This set of Kickstarters is the first I’ve seen where it is filtered for “non-spicy.” I especially recommend Lessons in Latte, by my friend Merrie Destefano.

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Sound of the Sirens Yesterday our family went on an Odyssey cruise. As you most likely know, I live in Izmir Turkey, and we live about 30 minutes away from the islands that gave both Odysseus and St. Paul all sorts of trouble. We cruised on a large tour boat, sailing around from sea cove to sea cove, where we dove in and swam in the Aegean sea. Sigh. So refreshing here mid-summer! One of our stops were the Siren Rocks….
From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories When to Quit. Vera Morales (from the Return to Me book 2) reminds me that it’s easy to give up. Even when we have a great vision for what we want for our lives, sometimes we reach the tipping point where throwing in the towel seems so much more preferable. But in Vera’s Story, though she’s an optimist, life situations just gets to be too much for her. Some countries encourage suicide in hopeless situations. There’s a case…
From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hey there Reader– I use and heartily recommend the M’Cheyne Bible reading plan. This morning I read a life-changing passage in Mark 7:23-30. Phoenicians, Dogs, & the Character of God The story takes place in Tyre. Jesus is brought into a house secretly to give him a bit of a pause amidst all the crowds. But the word is spread, and a young mother discovers that he has come. She rushes in and falls at his feet. The woman…
