Faith-building Other Worlds

MY NEXT FOCUS

Over the past 18 months, I’ve been working on the Trunk of Scrolls: Paths of Faith and Fire relaunch, including now the audiobook and the Turkish translation.

Ahead of me, I have a fork in the road.

I NEED TO DECIDE which series to finalize first.

Book 1 of each of them is almost ready.

But it depends on what YOU want first.

In Your Hands

If you’re reading this, YOU need to put your vote in. Which have you been more anxious about?

Option 1) Return to Me series (Supernatural “Beyond the Veil” Drama).

In The Last Noel, fireman Reuben Morales deals with the loss of his sister, Vera Morales. In Book 2, we see things from Vera’s perspective when she herself goes ‘beyond the veil’. Book 3, it’s Reuben’s wife Monica’s turn to experience life ‘beyond the veil’.
Book 2) Vera’s Story: Vega Morales, a rookie cop eager to prove herself, becomes bound to a violent ghost after a chilling encounter in a graveyard. Torn between duty, a crumbling grip on reality, and a prophecy fueled by her family’s faith, she’s thrust into a deadly race against time. To survive, Vega must unravel the ghost’s message before it drags her into an eternal grave.
Book 3) Monica’s Story: After a devastating accident leaves her in a coma, Monica Morales awakens in a mist-shrouded silo where strange forces pull her toward eternity. Guided by a cryptic woman, she fights to find the way back to her husband and children before the doorway at the top closes forever. But the deeper she climbs, the more she uncovers truths that could shatter everything she believes about life, death, and the God who holds them. (3 book set)

Option 2) “Immortals” Series (Sci-fi Fantasy Dystopia) (working title)

All forest-dwelling JulieAnn Bishop wants is to keep her family alive. But when monstrous super-soldiers drag them away to face the memory-wiping Shot, she has no choice but to leave the woods and enter Hilltown—a glittering glass city built on the ruins of Los Angeles. There, the Nexus, a worldwide virtual game, ensnares its citizens in twisted pleasures and brutal trials. To survive long enough to find her family, JulieAnn must play along—pretending loyalty to a system that would erase her past, her identity, and even her faith. If they discover who she truly is, she’ll lose not only her memories…but her soul. (4 book set)

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hello to March! And hello to you Reader! I have a special treat for you today–a short autobiographical story I wrote about a life-changing experience I had as a little girl in Japan. It’s a bit sensitive, showing parts of my character I sure can’t shake. But it was quite formative. If I hadn’t survived, you wouldn’t be getting this email today. 📚 The End ✏️

📚 The End ✏️

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Hi again Reader! I’m not sure why, but I have trouble using the word “The End” at the end of a story. First of all, it should be clear that the story is over, right? The last lines of a book should already reflect an ending without those two words. But when I write a story, the character and I form a bond. Maybe the reason I have trouble ending a book with “The End” is that for me neither they nor their story is truly…

🕊️ Hope and Hope Again 🕊️

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Greetings Reader! We’ve been in the midst of a torrent of rain here in Izmir–great for the olive trees, apricot trees, and grapevines, but terrible for the dogs. This is the second greatest rainfall in 88 years of recorded measurement. I calculated the other day to learn that there has been a total of about 1.5 Olympic-sized swimming pools full of water dumped on our farm since the beginning of the year. Wet and rainy,…
