MARK OF THE RAVEN TRILOGY (Morgan L. Busse) What if Rey Skywalker was dropped into Middle Earth, but worked for Saruman?

Morgan L. Busse is one of my favorite Christian fantasy authors. Her world-building in the Ravenwood Saga series, a fantasy dystopia of sorts, is Middle Earth + Hunger Games, with a touch of Rey Skywalker. In this story, a girl from the evil side of the battle faces off with her gifts and with a man who may or may not have her future in his hands.

The APPRENTICE (COLLECTIVE UNDERGROUND) (Kristen Young): What if they erased your past from your memories? And what if knowing what happened would erase all the hopes you had for your future?

From my Amazon Review: What happened to all the children? Why could no one remember life before the Nursery?

This story presents an excellent world of institutionalized society, rigid and manipulative, with the enemy being anyone who dissents. But Kerr Flick knows something. And that knowledge and the mystery hidden in her memories push her to risk and do what others are afraid to do.

As Kerr Flick continues to be faithful to herself, unexpected things happen. I was so startled by the twist, I rethought all I had read up to then to set it with fresh eyes. Well-hidden secrets, always a fun part of reading a huge twist!

I heartily recommend this to all readers who wonder how to survive in a manipulative, hostile society guised in rhetoric.

The NOCERE TRILOGY (Heather Carson): What if we only lived for our own self-serving eternity? What would happen to this world?

I need to say right away, this story takes a strange turn with the what-if scenarios. It’s a different kind of fantasy world, one Plato would have loved to muse over. What if there was no God, the supernatural world was merely spirit, and people could visit heaven at will? With a little imagination, and a disregard of reality, this trilogy presents a world where the afterlife becomes accessible as a travel destination, at a cost. As a Christian, I like to find stories that build others up in their faith. This presents a dystopia where faith in Christ is gone, but sin still exists, and sinners can get into heaven. I was truly gripped by this story. Why? It’s haunting, as it says. What if we could escape this world, and if people only lived for theirselves? Let me know if you read this, and what you think.

WAKE ME AFTER THE APOCALYPSE TRILOGY (Jordan Rivet): What if the world was going to be destroyed, and you (alone) could survive? Would you do it?

Wake Me After the Apocalypse pulls you in right away. In a story about a bunker, and a family torn apart by an upcoming apocalypse, the main character must face all kinds of risks to remain one of those who are saved when the world is destroyed. Will she make it?
